Transportation in Spain
Reach Córdoba comfortably and travel easily within the city.
Let’s reach Córdoba comfortably.
The Atocha Train Station in Madrid
After landing in Madrid-Barajas, the easiest way to reach Córdoba is by train - Specifically trains leaving the Atocha train station in Madrid. You can reach the train station one of several ways:
Flag a taxi right outside of the airport, which is by far the easiest method for non-Spanish speakers. Simply ask the taxi driver to take you to Atocha; the fee should be ~33€.
Use the Cercanías (Trams) which are the second easiest route by following the posted signs. A ticket must be purchased from nearby machines. In the best scenario, changing tram lines midway is not necessary but listen to the stops being called for certainty. Use Google Maps to find the best route.
Take the underground subway from the airport by following the posted signs. A ticket must be purchased from nearby machines. Navigating the subway can be challenging because guests will need to change subway lines midway. Use Google Maps to find the best route.
Connecting to Córdoba from Madrid
Once you’ve reached Atocha, navigating it can be tricky. Ensure that your connecting train ticket has been purchased several days or even weeks in advance. Usually, trains that connect from Madrid to Andalusia (Southern Spain, where Córdoba is located) depart from the first floor above the ground floor (2nd floor in U.S.).
Your luggage must go through a short screening and your ticket will be scanned before being admitted into the departure section. Afterwards, watch the screens for the platform where your departing train will arrive.
Board your train quickly when it arrives as they linger for less than 5 minutes. Store your luggage, find your seat, and relax for ~2 hours while listening closely for the Córdoba stop.
Once you’re here…
Navigating Córdoba
Moving around the city is very easy and we recommend the following options for every international guest. Keep in mind that travel by car can be difficult in certain areas due to smaller roads and tight alleyways.
Walking to destinations is the optimal method of travel throughout the city, especially in densely populated or touristic zones like downtown or certain neighborhoods. Google Maps can easily guide you from one location to another.
In the event a location is too far or out of the way, such as Torre Palomar de la Albaida (our venue!), the second best method of travel is by taxi. There are several taxi stops found throughout the city which can be easily located with Google Maps.
Guests can also call a taxi to their specific location via phone number or the mobile app. Keep in mind, these will be in Spanish.
